Niantic’s wellness community is abuzz as the Niantic Yoga Studio announces an exclusive Yin Yoga Teacher Training program scheduled for November 2025. The 30-hour continuing education course will take place over three consecutive weekends at the studio’s 413 Main Street location. This specialized training offers yoga teachers an opportunity to expand their teaching skills while learning the healing techniques of yin yoga, a practice gaining significant popularity for its therapeutic benefits.
“Yin yoga creates the perfect balance to our often yang-dominated lifestyles,” explains Megan Mulrine, lead trainer and owner of the Niantic Yoga Studio. “This practice uniquely combines Traditional Chinese Medicine principles with yoga asana, offering profound healing on physical, energetic, and emotional levels. We’re seeing more students seek yin yoga specifically for stress reduction and chronic pain management, which is why qualified teachers are increasingly in demand.”
The training follows the lineage and teaching style of renowned yin yoga expert Bernie Clark, focusing on the distinctive fusion of Traditional Chinese Medicine and yoga asana. Participants will explore the foundations of yin yoga, including the five elements theory and its impact on emotional well-being. The curriculum delves into meridian line theory—energy pathways through the body—and how specific yin poses can influence these channels to promote healing and emotional balance.
Sessions will run over three weekends: November 1-2, 8-9, and 15-16, with Saturday classes from 1:30 – 6:00 pm and Sunday sessions from 2:30 – 6:00 pm. The program includes additional home study components, totaling the required 30 hours for Yoga Alliance continuing education credits. These credits satisfy the full requirement that registered yoga teachers must complete every three years to maintain their professional certification.
Beyond theoretical knowledge, participants will gain practical teaching skills for over 20 different yin poses. The training emphasizes understanding not only the physical aspects but also the energetic and emotional dimensions of each posture. Teachers will learn how to guide students through the slow, meditative practice that complements more dynamic “yang” styles like vinyasa yoga.
Mulrine brings substantial expertise to the program, having trained more than 1,000 yoga teachers during her seven years in Bali, Indonesia, where she still operates the international branch of her Yogatrotter Academy. “What makes this training special is its focus on both the art of teaching yin and the science behind why it works,” Mulrine notes. “Graduates consistently report feeling more confident in creating therapeutic class sequences for specific conditions.”
Registration is now open with limited spots to ensure personalized attention. Participants must have completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training program before enrollment. Required materials include Bernie Clark’s “The Complete Guide to Yin Yoga,” which serves as the foundational text for the course. The studio offers early registration discounts for those who secure their spots before September 15.
For those interested in exploring yin yoga before committing to the full training, the Niantic Yoga Studio is offering several introductory workshops in the coming months. Additional wellness events at the studio include the Chakra Alignment Immersion with Mountain Flower this Friday and Paddle Board Yoga sessions with instructor Julia scheduled for both August 23 and September 20. These complementary offerings reflect the studio’s commitment to providing diverse wellness opportunities for the Niantic community.
